Hello, World
Who Am I?
I'm David Elizalde, a senior software engineer based in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Mexico. I've spent the last 10+ years building backend systems mostly .NET/C# and Azure across a few different companies in Mexico and internationally.
This site is part portfolio, part blog.
What I Work On
C#, Azure, SQL Server, microservices...the usual. I've worked across event-driven architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems at various companies over the years. Nothing too glamorous. I'm interested in learning Python for protein folding.
Outside the Code
I'm a scuba diver.
I got my Open Water certification in November 2022 and have since logged 29 dives across Mexican Pacific sites: Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Pulmo, Isla Isabel, and a wreck dive on the C-50 Rivapalacios. I hold Deep Diving, Enriched Air Nitrox, and Shark Ecology specialties through SSI.
I swam with sharks at Acuario Michin right here in Guadalajara, which was a very different experience than open water but just as fun.
I also try to be an open source contributor in my spare time. I've worked on Folding@Home (React) and BOINC (PHP), and done Spanish localization for both BOINC and Anki.
Why This Blog?
To write things down before I forget them. Posts will probably lean toward .NET and backend topics, but a diving story might slip in here and there.
Thanks for reading.
